Our Creator
My name is Kathleen. I grew up in the Midwest, and moved around the country for my husband’s career.
We ended up in AZ (so far), where we enjoy hiking, and hanging out with family.
Many years ago, we had a group of college kids come perform at our church, and one of the skits that really affected me was one that asked, “Who’s that giving cheerfully?" And the happy response was, "It’s me, it’s me!"
I never forgot that skit. It really stirred in me wanting to give and to give cheerfully - including giving cheerfully when it comes to tipping.
One day, I was out to lunch with my daughter at our favorite Chinese restaurant, and the idea of the Cheerful Tipper came to mind so we could share our experiences with our server - to let them know how good or bad their service was.
If good, I wanted to bless them with an encouraging word letting them know how much we appreciated their service.
And if bad, a way we could still bless them with a tip, but also kindly let them know they fell short.
Either way, it gives us as customers a voice so we don’t feel like we “have to” or obligated to give, but “get to” give and do it cheerfully.
I pray that you become a cheerful tipper, a cheerful giver; and that whatever you do, you do it with the love and joy of God. After all - the joy of the Lord is our strength!
“Now I say this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows generously will also reap generously. Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
